Turning all my L’s into Lessons…

Fashion for me has always been a way of expressing myself. My personal style is the way I communicate what my words sometimes simply can not. This way of expressing myself began to inspire others. From then, I felt socially responsible to continue helping women who look like me have more confidence within themselves. At a point recently in my life, I had become so consumed with helping others become confident, that I was beginning to lose my own.

Confidence comes from “doing.” You have to trust yourself and know that you will come through. (Note To Self)  There are so many things I desire to accomplish but admit-ably sometimes I find myself in my own way.  One of my biggest fears is looking back at life 60 years from now with regrets. I’ve never been a fan of apologies. I believe that if you do what you are supposed to do… (within reason) then apologies are unnecessary.

I don’t want to have to apologize to myself!

So what’s getting in my way causing me to get in my own way? Comparison, she is the thief of all joy.

Im constantly amazed by how we love ourselves above all others, yet we put more stock in the opinions of others than in our own estimation of self.-Marcus Aurelius

Its funny how we can be immensely happy with our own lives, until we find out someone we don’t even like has more. Sometimes we don’t feel good about our accomplishments or talents until some third party validates them. Lately, I am striving to put more effort into the things I can control, and what others think about me is not on that list. I struggle with opening up about struggles. Sharing things with others or even saying them out loud makes it real for me.
WHEW, so theres my truth. At least the portion Im willing to share with you today. ( Listen, I am a work in progress…don’t judge me.)

In the words of the voice of the young people Chance the Rapper, I’m “Turning all my L’s into lessons!”
