We teach girls to shrink themselves, to make themselves smaller
We say to girls: “You can have ambition, but not too much
You should aim to be successful, but not too successful
Otherwise, you will threaten the man” –Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
This week is special to me for two reasons. First I celebrated another year of life, and I celebrated 6 months since moving to New York City. I’m proud of my accomplishments so far, and they have me feeling like “I’m the man.”
Women are expected to wear dresses and skirts all the time. but I personally believe “There is nothing like a woman in a suit.” This look includes two of my favorite style combinations. Of course, black and white and mixing prints. I love these light weight square print pants. The fit is perfect and they are extremely breezy which makes them perfect for spring. I always like to do a little mixing and matching, so I paired them with a striped v-neck sweater. A Tuxedo is traditionally known to be a man’s suit, so what better way to complete the look than with a tuxedo blazer. I love the black finishing on the long lapel, it really adds a “suitable” edge to the blazer. I completed my look with a pair of Leather-look monochrome design pumps. The ankle strap was the perfect embellishment making them dainty and classic. plus an ankle strap always provides extra support to any heel.
Whatever you desire in life, own it! Be confident be encouraged, and wear the pants!
